Are Teen Age Years The Best Essay Are Teenage year the best of your life? The teenage years are considered the best years of your life that is what magazine. Im going to tell you why they are not. First you are always looked at to succeed by your parents, the lack of freedom we get and last but not least we are considered lairs and criminal among todays society. One of the disadvantages of being a teenager is that we are always looked to succeed in school so you can do and be better then them. They also say if we fool around the future for us is going the extinguished. Other disadvantage of being a teen is the lack of freedom we get. Sure we might live in a free country but are we all free? The freedom that Im talking about is staying up late, working and school. Staying up late I dont know about you but I have to get home before my parents I cant even be in front of my house to the wee hours of the morning. Working is another one we another one we cant work on weekdays because my Dad says it will effect my school work how will he know if he doesnt give it a chance. School is the worst of all we cant even wear earrings because its not part of the uniform I understand that but the shaving is just stupid how could you order someone to do something that comes in naturally. It is like telling someone you have to get a hair cut every week. Its violating our freedom of expressing. The worst part of being a teenager is that we are considered lairs and criminals among our society. For example if a bunch of teens walk into a variety store the owners automatically think we are going to rob them but the only thing we want is a little snack. The other thing is lying adults never believe teens why you ask? I dont really know. For example a teacher and a student get into an argument and its the teachers fault the principle is going to believe the teacher because they dont tell lies. So with the facts that I just stated that is why I have to say the teenage years are not what people say they are.

The waiter who speaks these words, in a Clean Well-Lighted Place by Ernest Hemingway, realizes that his café is more than just a place to eat and drink. The main character of this story is an elderly, deaf man who spends every evening at the same café until it closes. Setting is used to help the reader understand the old man's loneliness and the comfort he receives from the café. Hemingway uses direct description, visual and auditory clues, and sense imagery to establish the setting and to develop this understanding. Hemingway uses direct description at the very beginning of the story to establish the setting of the story for the reader. "It was late and everyone had left the café except an old man who sat in the shadow the leaves of the tree made against the electric light. In the day time the street was dusty, but at night the dew settled the dust...(249)." This conveys a sense of solitude and peace which surrounds the old man. More importantly, this description gives the reader a feeling for the loneliness which has engulfed the old man. The use of shadows and light, along with solitude, gives the sense of loneliness. The visual and auditory clues the author uses are necessary in understanding why the old man continues to return to the café each night. "Turning off the electric light he continued the conversation with himself. It is the light of course but it is necessary that the place be clean and pleasant. You do not want music. Certainly you do not want music (251)." It is important that the café be well-lighted to counteract the old man's dark and lonely life. In addition, music would only be a distraction from his thoughts and a disruption of the solitude which quiet brings. Finally, through Hemingway's use of sense imagery, the reader is able to understand why the old man visits the café at night. "...the old man liked to sit late because he was deaf and now at night it was quiet and he felt the difference (249)." Evening brings a sense of serenity to the old man. The day time distractions, even for a deaf man, are replaced by evening solitude.

Commedia dell’Arte highly depended on improvisation especially from the actors, who where expected to use jokes and stock physical gags to excite the audience. An advantage of this was, since the productions were improvised, dialogue and action could easily be changed to satirize local scandals, current events, or regional tastes, while still using old jokes and punch lines. As such, the performances often were based on scenarios that gave some semblance of plot to the largely improvised format. Family Guy is famous for such plot lines, the numerous cut away gags and literally targeting every subject under the sun. For example, several times, Stewie’s elaborate and complex plans to finish off his mother never come to fruit and she instead carries him off. Peter also commonly makes practical jokes and often will cut off to a completely unrelated part of the story line, such as fighting a chicken or a story about his relative. That is some hilarious stuff. Mean while in A Servant of Two Masters, the scenarios are designed for improvisations from the actors. There are plots within plots and even subplots that cross paths and plans that always some how work or backfire on the initiators. Truffaldino, the main character of the play always carried a wooden sword, which he used for many zany bits and gags. He also seemed always hungry and in one hilarious scene, he attempts to serve his two masters dinner without being discovered and at the same time sneaks bites of the dinner for himself. In conclusion, although many elements of Commedia are seen in today’s television shows and theater, only two have been discussed in detail as shown above. From the characters to the performances of Commedia which lasted for over 200 years and elements where only improved or changed but it did not completely die off. The use of stock characters is still practiced today and so are the zany bits and gags as illustrated with the examples of A servant of Two Masters and Family Guy. While many other plays and television shows follow the basic Commedia style, these two examples are suitable to show and indicate that Commedia dell’Arte still rages on.
